Louis Colaianni
Linklater Voice Training



Louis Colaianni is an authority on voice, speech, phonetics and Shakespeare performance. He is one of the leading teachers of Linklater Voice and received his teacher training directly from Kristin Linklater.

Mr. Colaianni is the author of The Joy of Phonetics and Accents (Drama Publishers, 1994), Shakespeare's Names: A New Pronouncing Dictionary (Drama Publishers, 1999), with Cal Pritner: How to Speak Shakespeare (Santa Monica Press, 2001), and with Claudia Anderson: Bringing Speech to Life (Joy Press, 2003).

He has given workshops and lectures internationally on Voice Production, Speech and Phonetics. His unique approach to phonetics and stage accents is used by dozens of theatre schools throughout the Nation.

Colaianni serves as Voice and Text Director in the professional theatre and has worked with such companies as The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Festival of St Louis, the Arizona Theatre Company, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Trinity Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre and Seattle Repertory Theatre. He has taught at many universities and actor training programs.
 
As an actor, he toured nationally with Shakespeare & Company, and appeared at various regional theatres, including The American Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford Connecticut. His New York acting credits include appearances with the New York Shakespeare Festival, Joseph Papp, Producer.

Colaianni was Associate Editor of The Voice and Speech Review, a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal (Applause Books), and International Dialects of English Archive.
