Davis Robinson
Theater Collaborations



Davis Robinson is chair of the Theater and Dance Department at Bowdoin College, and former head of actor training at Emerson College in Boston. His book The Physical Comedy Handbook was published by Heineman Press in 1999.

He is also artistic director of the Beau Jest Moving Theatre, an award-winning ensemble that has appeared at numerous festivals and theaters, including several appearances Off-Broadway and at the Piccolo Spoleto Theater Festival. Their production of Krazy Kat won a 1995 Boston Theater Award. Their newest show is a stage adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's The Seven
Samurai
, opening in Boston June, 2006.

Davis studied physical theater with Jacques Lecoq and Tony Montanaro and studied choreography with Mark Morris and Pilobolus. He has appeared in numerous films and commercials, including The Next Karate Kid and Happy Monday, Mr. Krebs.
