Amanda Huotari

Amanda Huotari (pronounced hoot-er-ee) is a 7th-generation Mainer, born and raised in the town of South Paris. She is an actress, teaching artist and Artistic Executive Director of Celebration Barn Theater, Maine’s international center for physical theater training. With a BFA in acting from Emerson College, she also studied physical theater at the Lecoq School in France and trained in Commedia dell’Arte with Antonio Fava in Italy. She’s been a guest teaching artist at Dartmouth College, Bates College, the University of Maine, and many others, in addition to working with the Maine Alliance of Arts Education to facilitate theater residencies at high schools throughout the state. Mandy has worked with many Maine theater companies including Stonington Opera House, Oddfellow Theater, Heartwood Theater, Children’s Theater of Maine, Lorem Ipsum, Mad Horse, and Add Verb Productions with whom she spent 9 years touring the one-woman show, The Thin Line. Her own solo show, The Soirée, is directed by Broadway’s Avner “The Eccentric” Eisenberg and has been featured at festivals across the US and beyond. Mandy is also a founding member of two ensembles that create and tour original works, The Celebration Barn Ensemble, and the Colombian-American collaboration, The Fabulous Problemas. In 2013, she became an adjunct acting teacher at Southern Maine Community College.
