In the late 80's Leland sold his interest in the Celebration Barn and moved to Santa Barbara, California. There he enrolled at Brooks Institute and graduated with honors in 1994. His entry of the film, As Luck Would Have It, won a National Cine-Eagle in 1997.

Leland worked in the film and television industry for several major institutions and companies, including The Hollywood Film Institute, and The City of Santa Barbara. For two years he co-produced the award winning program Inside Santa Barbara, and the spanish language program Nuestra Ciudad. His recent films include the short comedy Mort & The Stiffs, and his children's tale The King O'Cats.

Leland now lives in Auburn, Maine with his wife and daughter who often travel with him on his extensive tours. He teaches workshops in performance development for professionals at the Montanaro/Hurll Retreat in Casco, Maine, and at the Celebration Barn in South Paris, Maine. These workshops are geared to professional artists looking to develop performance material and push their work to the next level.
