Physical Eloquence

Whether you are an actor learning to move or a mover learning to act, this course covers both ends of the spectrum and more. This course is about self-expression from the tip of the toes to the top of the head.

Expressing yourself through the whole body is synonymous with expressing your whole self. As more and more of the body is included in your performance, more and more of your mind and sensibilities are engaged as well.
"Physical eloquence" was Tony Montanaro's definition of mime. During this week, you will learn basic mime, dance, and improvisation techniques. You will perform characters, animals, moods. You will move to music and in silence. You will explore abstract and literal themes. You will add a wide range of movements to your own movement vocabulary.
In short, this workshop is designed to liberate your physical impulses and introduce you to the power of a physically charged performance. No previous experience in dance or mime is necessary.
