Every participant in this workshop will, regardless of their natural gifts or level of experience, develop their ability to exude presence on stage (and off).
You will have a greater understanding of how to be both relaxed and responsive on stage, developing your ability to notice and respond to what is happening around you.
You will experience, through delightful games and exercises, how to comfortably behave on stage (and in life) in a way that is clear and direct, whether doing something funny, poignant, or dramatic.
This is an approach that is physical, making reference to principles of physics (balance, forces, etc) as well as the forces at play in human behavior (feelings, motivations). It is also an approach to performance that considers the essential element of theatre to be the attitude of play. One can play seriously or frivolously, but if the process is not enjoyable for the actor, it is not enjoyable for the audience watching them.
So: deep spiritual journey is not required. Nor is suffering for your art. The marketplace will provide plenty of suffering for aspiring theatre practitioners. The objective during this workshop is to learn a number of usable acting concepts and skills through the exercises, the play, and the shared experience. And to enjoy the process of playing together.
